talking about stress mmg now i'm in stress...mane tak nye..it's all about this Doctorate programme..we were bombarded with so many surprises, one after another...

ok i nak story morry sket..agak panjang jugak..bear with me..kalau tak nak teruskan sila stop kat sini..it's purely ACADEMIC!!!

ok lets make it to the point..my first intention dtg sini nk buat Master Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent) which entitle us to be a speacialist upon completion..and since kt sini taught course (classes+clinics+thesis) 2 years so they are offering 1 extra year clinical training so that you are eligible to sit for the exit exam..(nk dpt title panjang2 kt blkg tu..eg: MPaedDent, MRD etc...selain specialist in ape2 laa...)..kt UK ni adelah compulsary but kt Msia this is not a compulsary requirement but mesti ade fellowship exam (entrance exam- MFDS,MJDF etc)

then last year before we finished our 1st year my Head of Dept proposed a new course or higher level which is Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry...die explained that this course is higher level setaraf PHD and for those in academic and aimed to do phd later on will be benefited..bla..bla...tak byk beza and MClinDent..since my classmates and I are qualified for this promotion and UCL approved the course so we seek the sponsor's permission and were granted..

Fine then we proceeded with the transfer and terus skip masuk DDent year 2 (instead start all over again as 1st year..kire beruntung jugak laaa kan!!)..
Pastu tiba2 tgh2 second year..UCL Graduate school which is the one that monitoring PHD student dtg meeting with us explaning about us as the research student..(What the hell la kan??we are still doing clinical and research not mainly research)..coz naturally bidang ni tak yah buat phd pun takpe..the specialist course is equivalent with phd already..

mentang2 la UCL dpt ranking 4th in the TIMES World University ranking..so die katuk students die laa...ok then we had a meeting within department pulak...
the surprises were:

1. kitorang kene expand research up to phd level - that's fine for me..coz my reseacrh title mmg dh wide, so no problem..

2. kene submit 4 clinical cases in June 2010..we were told in December 2009!!(ingat course 3 years submit by 3rd year la..) so dh pening..cases must be complex..susah nk dpt tau!!sbb kt UK ni diorang suke refer case budak yg tak cooperative instead of yg really ade problem..


3. kene buat clinical audit as compulsary requirement..before ni buat with SPR..but now kene buat sorang2 and proper okay!!and topic sume susah2 and this is big audit..bukan 2-3 bulan nye..aim for 3 years audit..-PENGSAN!!!

4. kene UPGRADE to Phd!! waduh ni lg pening..ok kt UK ni if buat phd masuk 1st year as MPhil, then buat upgrade report and Viva..if pass br dapat jd phd student.. so we were told to upgrade last 2 weeks and submit upgrade report 10k words by April!!! GILER!!!!

5. and Project progress presentation which were schedule next month will be marked!!!TENSION!!!

6. EXAM FORMAT dh tukar pulak to suit the Edinburgh MPaedDent format..before this we used to answer Exam in essay format..so 3 questions in 3 hours..but now short notes..so 9 questions in 3 hours..Dem..it could be anything okay!!byk die blh tanye!!

so itulah antara perkara yg membuat kan sye tension tahap gaban..semua last minute and byk benda tak settle..fyi this is the 1st Doctorate course in Paediatric Dentistry in the UK and the 1st in the Eastman..so we were being monitored closely by UCL..if feedback okay,other courses will be upgraded to Doctorate soon...
so skang mmg terasa la ape itu PERMANENT HEAD DAMAGE!!!
it's true...takde single session yg boleh melepak..and i still don't have my Trauma Case!!!isk..isk...

tp kadang2 rase cam tak fair for us pulak..kite ni in transitional period..tibe2 ape diorang nak bgtau last minute...itu yg geram..taula nk kekalkan ranking Top 5 as Research Uni (RU)..tp takyah la nk katuk students semua..kami innocent okay!!!

kalau la tau, I would not accept offer..baik stay MClinDent and balik jadi speacialist gak..ni ade phd tp tak tau la nk stay gomen forever or not ponn....huhu...

so for the conclusion..i ade 6 weeks before my easter break..to work like HELL...then poya2 with my parents then concentrate sampai muntah...Hopefully by 3rd year kitorang okay sket laa..(tu pun dgr2 kene pegi professionalism course, teaching course and etc...Wallahualam..)

Surgical Day

Last Thursday we had a Surgical Day..
basically it's about stiching..jahit-menjahit, lapah-melapah..hehe..
yela eventho I'm doing paediatric, but we had to do some surgical stuffs too..esp for orthodontic purposes (yg pakai braces) or ade lesions to be removed..but if it's involving deep tissue or complicated cases we normally combined with OS..or refer je la.. (Sila amik ye en.dxoul oor linie)

Ok we were told that we gonna have this pakcik bab*'s head a few days before..
so me?? yyaikcss!!
but wat to do..for the sake of learning..plus we need a specimen full of flesh kan..so ape lagi yg fleshy-fleshy ni kalau bukan bab*..haha..
psycho gaks befoe the course..

so after a short briefing, we were brought to the lab in Eastman Centre of Excellence..cheh ni nk nyampuk sket..sbb kt EDI ni byk sgt courses, so we have another building especially for running courses..kt sini ade 3 levels including private clinics, labs, clinic/simulation lab for hands on and the best is Free Coffee!! haha..

ok lets cont..so bile masuk lab tuh..nampak la all the heads lying on the simulation table..me yg berhati2 plus dh siap2 bwk sabun Taharah takut2 nak masuk..ye la takut tersentuh dh kene samak kan..
Luckily we were given disposable surgical gown and visor..surgical gloves and etc..so cover up habis laa..tak yah risau nk terkena pun..

bile abis demo, start la meneroka kepala en.bab ni..hehe..best gak..mmg fleshy-fleshy gitu..
we were given half head each..

so kene amik blade and toreh..lepas tu jahit..toreh lagi..jahit..hehe..best sungguh..
and bile nk kene praktis kt skin..terbalik kan laa..toreh lagi..jahit..
kt jaw pulak..siap ade gigi lagi..
buat flap..toreh..jahit..
owh sungguh menarik course ni..
walaupun pada mulanya agak takut2 disebabkan specimen tuh..at the end i was so relieved sbb mende tu xde bau pun..
and bile dh abis ade ke kitorang kene bungkus and angkut sendiri balik EDI..kene jalan dlm 5 mins..
me yg bijak ni..hehe..tak nak kene baju suh la my best fren angkut kan..
yelaa eventho dlm my classmates ramai muslim, tp diorang kate diorang tak yah basuh air tanah..pelik sungguh..
kt sini baru la nampak perbezaan pendapat walaupun kite ni sesama Islam..
ape boleh buat..walau di mana kite berada...pegangan kite tetap sama..
so jgn la percaya kepada org lain..berpegang teguh je la pada ajaran dan ilmu yang kita ada..
